This error can occur if there is an incorrect setting in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders\Common Administrative Tools registry entry.

Correct the setting by following the steps below:

Step I: Take a backup of the registry
--------------------------------------

Follow the steps below to create a backup copy of the registry:

1. Click Start, then Run. The Run window will appear.
2. In the Open box, type: REGEDIT
3. Click OK. The Registry Editor window will appear.
4. Click Registry or File, then click Export... or Export Registry File. The Export Registry File window will appear.
5. In the Savein drop down box, select Desktop.
6. In the Filename box, type: Backup
7. In the Saveastype drop down box, select Registration Files.
8. In the Exportrange area, select All.
9. Click Save. The Export Registry File window will close and a copy of the registry will be located on the desktop.
10. Close the Registry Editor window.
11. The registry has been copied.
CAUTION: Carefully follow the steps outlined below,

Step II:

1. Click Start, then Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, then click OK.
3. Click the + sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
4. Click the + sign next to Software.
5. Click the + sign next to Miscrosft.
6. Click the + sign next to Windows.
7. Click the + sign next to CurrentVersion.
8. Click the + sign next to Explorer.
9. Click the + sign next to Shell Folders.
10. In the right pane of the Registry Editor window, double-click Common Administrative Tools.
11. In the Value data box of the Edit String dialog box that appears, type the following line: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools then click OK.
12. In the File menu, click Exit to close Registry Editor.
13. Restart the computer.
14. Reinstall printer drivers.
